Taking off from Cagliari
Time to go home and with quite an early flight we decided to wait to have breakfast at the airport. So we finished packing, left the apartment keys in the safe box, sent a thank you message to our host Claudio and walked to the station - thankfully downhill!
We got our train tickets from the machine and had just a ten minute wait for our train to depart. It only took a few minutes to reach the airport station and just a little more to walk to the terminal.
We cleared security and found a bar serving coffee and pastries. As we’d found at all the city cafés, the croissants were light and tasty and the coffee good, but it was considerably more expensive than the city centre.
We didn’t have a lot of time to spare so as soon as we’d finished eating we went through passport control to our gate. Unlike our outbound flight, the ground crew managed the speedy boarding process well, and although there was some hanging around we were among the very first to board. Everyone else followed and we were ready to leave ahead of schedule.
The flight went smoothly but as it was Chris’s turn for the window seat I only grabbed a couple of photos.
Taking off from Cagliari
We were surprised to land at Gatwick’s North Terminal as, although that’s the one normally used by EasyJet, we’d taken off from the South. So we took the monorail to the South Terminal, stopping off to buy some food in M&S to save having to go out shopping once we got home. The Gatwick Express train got us to Victoria in thirty minutes and from there we took the District and Piccadilly lines. While Gatwick is never quite as quick and easy for us as Heathrow, the whole journey home had gone well. Just a shame we’d had to leave the sunshine behind in Cagliari!
