And onwards to Bohol

Our flight to Bohol wasn’t until this afternoon so we took our time over breakfast while watching the manic Manila rush hour traffic. We then took our cameras outside for a short walk to try to capture some of the madness. I had a fun moment when a couple of policemen on a motorbike spotted me while waiting at the lights and decided to pose for me!

But really only a video can capture the mayhem!

Later in the morning we went up to the Firefly roof deck for a refreshing mango shake and a chance to photograph the views in daylight.

Flying to Bohol

We were picked up from the hotel a little before midday and driven to the domestic airport where we arrived far too early for our flight – especially as both bag drop and security had very short queues. Luckily there was plenty of seating in the departure area and free WiFi.

We started boarding early and as the plane wasn’t full had a row of three to ourselves. But it was very cold inside the plane as they were pumping what looked and felt like dry ice, although we assumed it was some sort of disinfecting process. There was a slight delay before leaving the gate as two passengers were missing but eventually we were off. Only as far as a holding spot next to the runway however, where we sat for what seemed like ages and certainly was at least 15 minutes! We'd started to wonder if there was some issue with the plane as, although we saw a few take off, it didn’t seem busy enough to necessitate such a wait. But eventually we were off. I tried to take photos as we climbed up over Manila but the windows were too dirty and scratched to get very good ones. A snack of mini biscuits was served with a choice of water or coffee.

We landed just a few minutes late and didn’t have to wait too long for our bags. We had a transfer to the Bohol Beach Club with another couple, checked in and were given a ground floor room in a block quite near reception. It was a good size although we would rather have had a king size bed in preference to the double and single, and had no need of the mobility aids in the bathroom (maybe they'd looked at our ages on our passports!)

We had a quick look around the grounds, checking out the location of the restaurant and getting our bearings before it got completely dark.

In the evening we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. The temperature was perfect for outdoor dining and there was live music with a singer with a very good voice and an eclectic choice of numbers, all fairly easy listening and at a low volume (almost too low). I enjoyed my chicken teriyaki and loved the mango daiquiri I had afterwards.
