A return to the rue Monge

In the apartment we rented in the rue Monge

Time for our annual visit to Paris to celebrate our wedding anniversary. As usual we travelled by Eurostar and everything went smoothly. We arrived at the apartment we were renting on the rue Monge, the same one as last year, and checked in easily.

After relaxing for an hour or so we went out for a walk down to the Seine, which always draws us on arriving back in Paris. We checked progress on the restoration of Notre Dame. There was still quite a lot of scaffolding but the West Front was looking stunning and it was great to see people able to go inside - something we plan to do later over the weekend.

For now though we headed back in the direction of the apartment, stopping for a drink and some people watching at a café. Then we went for dinner at Le Pie Noir, not far from the apartment, which we had liked last year. It didn’t disappoint this time either, with a very friendly waitress and good food. I especially liked my starter of mini ravioli parcels filled with Comte cheese.
