Departure day, but after breakfast again at the Costa coffee shop overlooking the City Garden, we still had an hour or so spare. Following the recommendation of VT friend Christina, another Sofia resident, we visited the rooftop bar of the Sense Hotel, just around the corner from our apartment. As she had promised, the view of the St Alexander Nevski cathedral was fantastic, especially once the early morning fog lifted.

But soon it was time to leave. We returned to the apartment to pick up our bags, then walked to the Metro.

At St Kliment Ohridski Metro station, and at the airport

We were at the airport in good time, so after passing through security we had lunch and relaxed for a while. Everything went smoothly on the flight and as we landed at Heathrow’s Terminal 5, with the Piccadilly line station immediately below us, we were soon home.
